A Much Needed New Home

In 2006, the Boys & Girls Club of Elgin launched a $3 million dollar capital campaign to support the construction of a new facility, creation of an endowment fund and support of expansion of programs. At the end of 2007, with the support of individuals, foundations and corporations, as well as the support of a $1 million dollar match grant through the Firefly Foundation, the agency exceeded its $3 million dollar goal.
The 15,000 square foot Education & Enrichment Center opened its doors to the community in June 2008. Located right on top of its original 2,000 square foot house, at 355 Dundee Avenue.
It was originally projected that membership would rise from 690 members to 750 within months of opening the new facility; however the demand significantly exceeded this with a current membership of over 1,300 members.
